Default CD Drive

Hi Mike,

I tried your advice and was only able to remove my master
IDE I was unable to remove my primary and secondary it
said something about it was shared and was unable to
remove. But I did remove my master and restarted in
WindowsME but it detected my master but still can not get
my CD-ROM detected. Do you think this problem is
something I am going to have to take and be fixed? I have
tried the advice you, others and microsoft website has
given me and still for some reason cannot get WindowsME to
recognize my CD-ROM. Do you have any other advice that
may be able to help me. I hate to have to spend a fortune
getting it fixed by someone.

Thanks for any help
Shelly

Your CD-ROM is connected to your secondary controller and

until that is
recognised by Win Me you will not be able to use devices

connected to that
controller. Boot Again to Safe Mode and try deleting

your Master IDE
controller and its primary and secondary controllers.

Reboot back into Normal
Mode and let Win Me detect your hardware and hopefully

this time correctly
install the drivers

I tried doing what you said and nothing happened. The
drives still aren't present in the my computer and I

can't
access anything through the cd drives. When I rebooted

in
safe mode, there weren't any flagged devices. But in
normal mode, I have my "Secondary IDE Controller (dual
fife)" flagged. I'm not sure exactly what this does but
when I try to find the best drivers for it, all I can

get
is the one that is already installed. I don't want to

mess
anything up on my computer so any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
