i have a plextor Px716A cd/dvd drive. I'm having problems with the
initial setup install for win98se.
the installation of win98se was supposed to be installed to a scsi hard
drive (C, however, computer isn't seeing the Plextor drive as E:. so,
I can't get the install going. it worked fine under OS/2.
the generic drivers should have worked, but it didn't.
the scsi controller card is Tekram DC390U3W
any ideas on how to fix this?
A Win98 boot disk from
www.bootdisk.com may assign the letter R to
the CD drive. If the boot disk installs a temporary Ram drive then
the drive letter for the CD could be 1 higher than normal. ie: E: to
F:
Try D: and F and R for the install.
