Hi Glen,
I just restored my TS's. I've done the fix before, however, I had concerns
and I didn't restore them since current install.

I unzip the T-shooter fix (2) files (1) being readme text and send the file
not readme text to desktop as shortcut, doesn't work, also T-shooters remain
broken in Win-Help.

So... I must go to Tshoot.inf and reinstall, etc... which I've done before.

*The above is what really troubles me, cuz I felt I was undoing the fix
that was suppose to be protecting me.
After, I install Tshoot.inf... indeed the desktop shortcut on works for the
TS's.

BUT... now this even troubles me more, *they also now work again inside
Windows Help*, you know that, right?

That's what has troubled me, so the concept must be to use *only* the TS's
shortcut and I'm safe, am I correct, this is the only assumption that I can
understand?

I hope I'm clear, I was not going to do the fix and just leave them be... am
I correct in my understanding?

George supplied a workaround to allow you to use the troubleshooters and

then
disable them again. This is a workaround for the latest update to IE that

broke
them.

Fixing them by installing tshoot.inf only works if the original update

that broke
them was installed, but not the later update. Once you install the second

update
that breaks the troubleshooters, you must use the temporary
workaround.....right-clickinstall on tshoot.inf no longer fixes it of the

second
update was installed. It is the later update that sets a kill bit, not

the earlier
update.

My standard blurb on the problem:

There are two different fixes, depending on the Windows updates you have

installed.

The original fix for the older update was this:
First, click Start Settings Folder Options View tab, and click to

enable "Show
All Files" and click OK.
Click Start Find File or Folders, and search the C:\ drive for a file

named
Tshoot.inf...it should be found in the \Windows\Inf folder.
Right-click Tshoot.inf and click Install on the menu that appears.

If the latest cumulative patch for Internet Explorer is installed, there

is only a
workaround.

Hello group,
I have a new install of Windows and I have installed all critical

updates,
therefore my TS's are not working as I would expect.

My question, I do have the fix that MS-MVP George (Bindar Dundat) has
created.
However, it does not restore the troubleshooters??

I know what will restore them... reinstalling them, via rt. clicking on

the
Tshoot.inf file and having my OS CD ready.

I did the above action on a previous fresh install of Windows-98-se

after
getting all critial updates.

This is the question;..... If I reinstall my T-shooters via rt. clicking
Tshoot.inf file, *am I not removing the kill-bit in the registry that

is
suppose to be protecting me*??

Thanks for clarification.
