Yes I did over install. I've just done as you said and completly removed
everything and install it again.

And it's only worked like a charm, problem fixed.

Did you 'over-install' or delete (remove) your copy of Excel 97 first?

Try deleting (removing) and then re-boot and clean-install Excel 97 (or
Office 97 if necessary)
An over-install may not be 'fixing' the issue - e.g. a corrupted registry
key or file not being overwritten.

BTW - If you have to delete (remove) the program(s), you *shouldn't* lose
any data, (but back-up your documents anyway!!) only personalised settings
(e.g. printer or font settings, templates, etc.) which you may have made.

I think it has got to be something I've installed as it worked fine the

time I used it, about 6 months ago. (Just shows how much I use Excel).

Unfortunately both Office 97 and Win ME are no longer in full support

MS - and I can find no references to your exact error message at MS - so

may be that you are SOL without some heavy-hitter backing.......


That said - go to Windows Updates, and make sure that you have installed
ALL
the 'Critical' updates, and any others that relate to Office - then go to
the Office site (office.microsoft.com) and see what's available there.
