click on start slect run and type "msconfig" in pop up
select startup and u will see list of all applications
which are booting up when u switch on uncheck items that u
dont use or do not need to auto boot on power up save and
reboot u will get a message that u have made changes which
u click do not show and u will see improvement depending
on what u have switched off any mistake just go back in
and recheck box. Some people make notes to see what
changes have made just incase u need to go back and undo
changes,

I just installed ME on a formatted hard drive.
Everything is working good except it takes a long time to
boot up. It gets to the windows screen and just sits
there. The only thing on screen is a green background
and the hourglass mouse pointer. The red light is
flashing so it is doing SOMETHING, but I don't know why
it is taking so long. It takes about 1-2 mintues of just
sitting there before the windows screen finally comes up
with all the icons and whatever.
