I repaired some windows problems using Norton Utilities 2002 - Norton
WinDoctor.
When I restarted my computer, I received the following error:
Explorer
Details: EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module EXPLORER.EXE at
0197:00401f31

I have reviewed this forum and already completed the following:
1. attempted to start in SAFE MODE and received the same error.
2. made sure I don't have a C:\explorer.exe file.
3. extracted and replaced explorer.exe and received the same error.
4. changed the shell in the system.ini file to boot into winfile.
5. extracted and replaced shdocvw.dll and received the same error.
6. extracted and replaced ole32.dll and received the same error.
7. I can run msconfig and verified that the boot section is enabled in the
system.ini file.
8. I have tried to re-run the IE setup but that fails.

I finally attempted to reinstall windows 98SE. I created a startup disk,
then, while copying
the files to my computer, I got the following error:
Generic installer error
Message SU99407
AddReg=processing error
(0X197)

I found two similar entries in this forum concerning a Generic Installer
Error.
One was for doing a clean install which I hope I won't have to do. The other
tlked about
reviewing the Setuplog.txt for ini files that didn't update. The error I
receive is:

GenInstall() ERROR!:GenInstall Section :MS_ole2: with sub-section le2.reg:
Errorcode=
413, ErrorCode2=407
FileQueue=Failed

Any help would be appreciated.
