Recently I've been having a need to access a site via telnet. Yes, I
know all the security concerns about it. That's not the issue. The issue
is that every time I open telnet, it opens in this window that goes off
the bottom of the screen. I can resize the window, and sometimes need to
move it first, but it's REALLY annoying to have to do this every time.
Is there any way to fix the problem that's making it open to a size
larger than 768 pixels? Preferably to something like 700 pixels so that
there's room for the taskbar since my faorite setting is 1024x768?

Not sure about 98, but my 95 version has various registry settings under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Telnet
specifically Columns 0x00000050(80) and Rows 0x00000019(25).

Changing those makes the window whatever size you like, character-wise.
If they're okay, but the window is still huge, something else is munged.
