You could try running system restore to roll your system back to a
checkpoint prior to your attempt to uninstall IE using the following
method which requires you to boot to DOS using your EBD and editing
system.ini and replacing the line
shell=explorer.exe with one reading
shell=C:\windows\system\restore\rstrui.exe
Now remove the EBD and see if you can start Win Me and boot direct into
System Restore.

For more details see KB 279736 "How to Start the System Restore Tool from
a Command Prompt" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=279736) which
mentions using progman.exe after which you can then locate and run
rstrui.exe however using rstrui.exe as above works equally well.

Hi, I thought Internet Explorer was just another program that I could
kill through Add/Remove...but after I chose the "Restore to Previous
Version" option, Windows ME did not boot correctly after the
restart...it's hanging after loading the taskbar. I can't boot to
Safe Mode correctly either...no start button, icons, or taskbar.
I've tried booting from disk, but don't know what to do after getting
the command prompt. Where to go from here? Any help appreciated.
