How do you get out of safe mode?
Can you speak in real simple terms because I have no idea about computers.

If you have your original Win98/98SE installation CD and don't feel up to
manually editing the Registry, follow these instructions:

To remove the NOIDE entry from the registry:
1.Select NOIDE.INF found in the \Tools\MTSutil folder on the Windows 98 CD.
2.Right-Click NOIDE.INF.

Hold down the SHIFT key and press the function key, F10.
3.Choose INSTALL to remove the NOIDE entry.

If you don't have the CD, or what you have is a "Restore" CD from some OEM
computer maker, email me (my email addy here is real) and I'll send you a
copy -- unless someone else comes up with a copy for you. Be sure to restart
after installing NOIDE.INF.
2. Do this even if the above "fixes" your problem. Restart in Safe Mode
(repeatedly tap F8 or Ctrl key as computer is starting up until the Startup
Menu appears, then choose Safe Mode.) Right-click My Computer, then
Properties. On the Device Manager tab, remove ALL local drives (not external
whatevers), ALL Drive Controllers (except FIFOs, wich can't be removed this
way) and the System device called PCI Bus. You *must* remove all of these
entries, not just some of them. While you're there, look for any devices
that are listed but which no longer are present on your system -- obsolete
entries -- and remove them, also. Lastly, look for any entries that are
exactly duplicated and write them down (what and how many of each.) Close up
and restart.
