You don't say which version of Word nor whether you are trying to open an
existing Word document or New document, however you *may* have a damaged
'normal.dot' template.

One of the most common problems with Word not opening is due to a faulty
(corrupted) 'normal.dot' template. You could try renaming/deleting the
'normal.dot' template (Don't worry, a new one will be generated, if
successful)

Take a look at the MS Knowledge Base article :-
"WD2000: Invalid Page Fault When Normal.dot Is a Document"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;211541

Otherwise, you could try posting to one of the Word newsgroups

Best of luck

everytime I open my word application it gives me a message saying Winword
has
caused an error in WINWRD.EXE Winword will now close. If you continue to
experience problems try restarting your computer. Tried to restart
computer
several times, no luck. I hope somebody can help.
