Default MS Word for Win98 SE?

I'm running Win98 SE, but my most recent copy of Word is
Word 6 (for
Win3). So far, I've managed to deal with MS .DOC files
with WordPad
and other word processors, but now I need a genuine MS
Word. Is it
too late to buy such a thing? Looking at dealers, I see
only late
versions of Word and MS Office (I don't need the whole
Office suite),
which all seem to need Win XP and points north. I really
don't like
to change to a version of Windows that doesn't run on real
DOS, but
where could I buy a version of Word for my rig?

Look for a copy of Microsoft Works Suite and check the specifications
on the package. It should say that it is compatible with Windows 98
SE.

Microsoft Works Suite includes Microsoft Word as the Word Processing
component, at least in the versions issued since 2001. And the price
is generally cheaper than purchasing a standalone copy of Microsoft
Word.

Note that there is also a product called Microsoft Works (without the
word Suite in the name). This does not include Microsoft Word.

Good luck
