Dear Gary,
I tried to modify the boot.ini file specifying more time of 30 seconds but
while modifying further I deleted windows 98 booting. Now while booting my PC
boots to windows 2000 which is not fully functional.
I pressed F8 and tried to activate to startup menus. But when I press the
option of command prompt it again goes to windows 2000 boot .
My floppy drive is not working. I have a CD-writer working but when I try to
boot from a bootable CD , my computer hangs on.
Now , how can I get command prompt and start the computer?

I believe you should have a boot.ini file in C:\ in your Win98. You can
designate the default boot system there.

Dear Friends,

I had two operating systems windows 2000 and windows 98 running on my PC.
Recently my windows 2000 system crashed. Earlier , while start up windows
2000 was my default start up system. I had given option of 5 seconds to
switch over between the operating systems.
Now I have to remain alert while start up. How can I change the default
start up to windows 98.
In windows 2000 it was easy. In this under system properties I have to
select ‘advanced ‘ tab then press ‘Startup and Recovery’ button. A dialog box
appeared in which I had to select default operating system.
