Default windows 98 floppy disk version

it doesn't work the my computer says it cannot locat win.com so it can't
boot, and a bunch of other files like himem.sys are missing.

But would you happen to know where I could get win98 OS on floppy disks?

no, i have a start up disk. What I need is the FLOPPY DISK VERSION OF WINDOWS
98 instead. My BIOS settings do not allow for the booting of CDs.
I already have the CD version of Windows 98.
Is there any way to download the OS onto FLOPPY DISKS or can i use my CD
version to transfer it to FLOPPY DISKS?

My Laptop only allows for the use of one drive at a time, and since windows
won't boot because it's corrupt and won't boot CD's on startup I have to use
my FLOPPY DRIVE.

Dan,

Try this:

Boot to Dos or use your Win98 Boot diskette then add these lines to
your autoexec.bat and config.sys files:

To Config.sys:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICEHIGH=C:\windows\command\Oakcdrom.sys /D:MSCD001

To Autoexec.bat:
LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001

Remove your startup disk and boot to Dos Command Prompt Only now you
should be able to access the CDrom. It may be one drive letter
higher than normal. ie D: to E:

After booting to Dos Command Prompt you can get into Windows Safe
Mode with CDrom support by entering:
Win.com /d:m

These lines provide CDrom Dos support for my DVD and CDRW drives.
They work on most CDroms.
