Seriously though, under the circumstances, you may as well cut your losses
and re-install afresh and just hope that you can access the intermittent
Windows WinMe Update site before it vanishes for ever (see recent
discussions in the WinMe.general news group). I guess you still have your
installation CD - either an MS or OEM disks - and am sure you will be able
to get assistance, should you require it, from the various contributors
around here.

I have to agree. I feel that trying to extract the various files from
the
Win Me cab set and then rebuilding the folders is probably too much
effort
without any guarantee of success.
