No reason for posting this, except perhaps to ease the troubled minds of
those of you struggling with shutdown and restart problems.

I started having these problems (specifically with 'Restart') just over
three years ago. I already had the DFS patch installed, and I tried just
about every other method of diagnosing and circumventing the confounded
thing - all to no avail.

Last week, I bought a new modem. My old one (a Dynamode A360)

FWIW, I notice that this is a USB modem so it could be more of a USB
issue than a modem issue.
