I concur with Rick and Delboy. I have never enabled event logging, over
many years of ZA, so have little experience with its interference with SR.

I'm using an older version of ZA but it's probably generically the
same...
For Logging Preferences:
From the left-hand tabs choose "Alerts & Logs"
From the tabs in the upper-right choose "Main"
Click on "Advanced" button.
Uncheck "Archive Alert Logs Daily"
Simple. grin
Rick
might not work, I've never tried to turn off the logging feature.
Also, via these newsgroups, I've never heard of ZA causing SR problems
on WinME.

I have Zone Alarm free firewall but I can't seem to figure out how to
disable
event logging. I have read everything in the help section but to no
avail. I
have done the MSCONIFG thing but still have the same problem. I just
know it'
s got to be the firewall. Everything was fine until I installed it.
Thanks
for the advice.

I urge you not to give up so easily, Peter.
Review the items in the Startup list of msconfig, and temporarily
disable
any unessential program which might be the culprit. If there are
many,
use
the "Divide by Half" method to discover the culprit. Post any
questions
here for advice.
And disable event logging for your personal firewall, per Noel and
Mike's
recent advice.

I did a search for the Win file and found none. I do have CCLeaner
installed
but not to scan on startup.I can still create manual restore points
so
I
guess I will just have to do it that way. I want to thank all that
responded,
especially Mike and Dellboy.

Is it possible to reinstall just system restore? No matter what
firewall
I
seem to use, after installing, the system restore won't create any
restore

I
have
tried Sygate and Zone Alarm, both cause the same problem. Thanks for
any
advice.
