Default For The REAL Expert... Win 98 does not know how to handle LINKS any longer :-(

All the links (except for Explorer, that is not a link) on the desktop
now show the generic Windows icon; the little arrow in the lower corner
(characteristic of the links) has disappeared; and the extension .LNK or
.PIF (for DOS applications), normally hidden, is now visible.

Delete the file c:\windows\shelliconcache
and reboot. The boot process will rebuild
this file, probably with the correct icons for
LNK files and linked correctly to their apps.
Shelliconcache is updated at each reboot
and can malfunction if it grows too large
(over 1.2 or 1.5 Mb.)

The corner arrow overlay (Copy Of) is easiest adjusted
with TweakUI.

[ Multiple crossposting is a bad idea because we
cannot know where the right solution will appear.]
