Default Hard drive size reported wrongly.

My suspicions here are that Steganos didn't restrict its attentions to the
TIF - and started removing files from places it didn't ortta!

With at in mind, there's a possibility that System Restore is out of whack -
Try creating a manual Restore point - what happens?

Last night I used Steganos 4.15 to clean up my cache (temp internet
files,
etc). Today I discover that my hard drive seems to have shrank by

about
3GB.

Checking through the files, it is clear that there are no new files

but
Windows Explorer and DOS are saying there is less space than in

reality.
They are saying 400MB when there should be about 3.6GB. When I go to
properties in Windows explorer the c:/windows dir gives the inaccurate
figure. On scandisk in DOS when looking at the drive it will jump

from
18%
scanned to 72% scanned (so clearly ignoring the files which do not

exist).

I have tried uninstalling Steganos, using scandisk (dos and windows),

etc,
but cannot get the right free space size back. On one occasion

scandisk
in
DOS said that the file space was being recorded incorrectly and it

would
fix
it, but nothing changed, even though scandisk said it had fixed the

problem.
Running in safe mode also does not help. This is nothing to do with

the
windows swap files, temp files, etc.

Any ideas? I am running a Compaq Presario with Windows ME. Compaq

diagnostics reports the wrong hard drive size too.

Thanks!
