Default Backup

Richard, many thanks for all of your help. I will do another backup soon and
save to a second hard drive.

When you're backing your computer up, you should not put the backup file on
the same drive you're backing up. You should install a second hard drive
for the backup file to be saved on (D:\MyBackup.qic instead of
C:\MyBackup.qic). If the C: drive fails, your backup fails with it.

The files you listed will be "busy" in any backup because they are files
that Windows is using. Enabling or disabling AVG won't help. They are
also
files that are non-essential to Windows - if they were deleted or lost
Windows would re-create them. Well, all but that MyBackup.qic - that IS
your backup file and it really belongs on a different drive than the one
you're backing up.

I did a backup on my elderly neighbours computer and turned AVG off so
they
came up as errors in the backup.
Also these errors came up:
MyBackup.qic
Schedlog.txt
Cookies\INDEX.DAT
History.IE5\Index.dat
temporary internet files\content\IE5\INDEX.BAT
these all came up as busy.
Any help would be appreciated.

Should I leave AVG on when I do a backup, and did the others come up as
busy
because i disabled task scheduler in the system tray before i did the
backup.
