Default Quick Time Explorer

Hey! Heather - I didn't say removing QuickTime was going to be easy! vbg
but the OP's major concern was about getting rid of the icon.

I think yours, Mike's and Mow's follow-ups pretty well cover all
eventualities. I just hope Irene managed to find her way back here to
pick-up our (collective) tips.

Mart.....removing QuickTime is darn near impossible. With Noel's help, I
got rid of most of it, but it still shows up in Startup (unchecked) and
also in a Registry Scan. I delete the "qt" files and they come back.

I just used RegEdit and can see nothing with "qt or quicktime" under
software, so not sure where it is hiding.

Cheers...Figgs

Right-click on the icon and select Quick Time Preferences, then select
the Advanced tab. Un-check the "Install Quick Time icon in system tray"
box at the bottom of the page. N.B. this only 'hides' the icon.

On the other hand, if you don't want Quick Time on your PC at all, you
could always uninstall it completely using Add/Remove Programs in Control
Panel.

I orginally posted this question in Learning General Discussions. I
realize
it now that it was in the wrong area. My apologies.

How do I get rid of the Quick time exploer icon on the right hand side
at the
bottom of the windows desktop. It was downloaded by my grandchildren to
play games. I can't get rid of it.
