without going to 100% as in the past.any suggestions on
correcting?

Many Thanks,

Try doing it in SAFE Mode.

Reboot computer and press CTRL (or install TweakUI where you can choose to
always have the boot menu displayed (or you can to the geek way of manually
manipulation the MSDOS.sys file. Mine is below, the location
[C:\MSDOS.sys]. Pay attention to the last three lines, those are the ones
that do the magic of showing the boot menu as well as the time untill it
auto boots to the GUI (non DOS):

[Paths]
WinDir=C:\WINDOWS
WinBootDir=C:\WINDOWS
HostWinBootDrv=C

[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1
DoubleBuffer=1
AutoScan=1
WinVer=4.10.2222
;
;The following lines are required for compatibility with other programs.
;Do not remove them (MSDOS.SYS needs to be 1024 bytes).

Once you are in SAFE mode the only tasks running might be your screensaver,
so you will want to disable that. BTW, somewhere I came across a Registry
tweak where when in SAFE mode the screensaver is disabled, at least I think
that was what it was.

Here is the REG key info:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Applets\Defrag]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Applets\Defrag\Settings]
"DisableScreenSaver"="YES"
