In my case that fix was enough to reduce the start delay to a few
seconds
compared to over 1 minute.

Your options:

a) Revert to previous version of Spybot S&D (specially if running
Win9x
systems);
b) Wait for an update with all fixes;
c) Go through some beta testing:

It seems this new version was 1 step forward and 2 backwards.
