That sounds like the programmer has set a minimum vertical size for the
window. To check if your desktop is spilling over the display area, select
a Window that you can resize and maximise it - check that the right and
bottom borders are the same. You can usually see a tiny strip of mouse
pointer on the right edge, and none on the bottom edge.

Running 800x640 and everything seems to be ok EXCEPT a few screens from
different programs. They open to large vertically.
I tried your suggestion and the program screen is as small as I can make
it,
using your suggestion.
Can't drag the borders to resize. The screen has a icon in the bottom
right
to resize BUT the only way it moves is horizontal or even larger
vertically,
which really makes it spill off desktop screen.

Did notice that on my other system, I can run the mouse off the desktop
screen on the right side and bottom but not top and left. Assume this is
"normal" or is there a setting I need to adjust. Could it be that
"certain"
programs use the entire screen and not just what is viewed?

If you can see the top border of the window, then grab it with the mouse

and
move the border down. Then grab the menu bar and drag the whole window

up.

If the problem is that the window is too large for the display, then you
need to increase the display area. Right-click a blank part of the

desktop
and select Properties then Settings. Move the Screen Area slider one
notch
to the right.

For most windows, pressing Enter is the same as selecting OK.

Had a problem with monitor and video card.
Everything is up and running but here's a problem.
(This also pops up once in a while on my other system but not to this
extent).
When I open a new screen, in this example my scanning program and

control
window, it runs off the bottom of the screen and I can't get to the OK,
Cancel, Apply buttons, even if I click and drag the top as high as I

can.

Suggestions please as this happens on other programs as well,

L.
