Default Win2k USB drive assignment locations?

I have 5 network drives Q,R,S,T & U mapped from a raid 5 server. Local
partition drives are C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M & O. It is a dual boot
station with W98se as drive C, W2k as drive O in a 2nd primary
partition. Other letter assignments are for special purpose apps &
local data with critical data on the server drive letters.

I have tried a Vakoss R723 3 port USB hub with a 28 card reader built-in
and have also tried a standard 4 port USB hub with one port dedicated to
a Stratitec 12 card reader. After testing each one for drive letter
memory I have found they both receive their drive assignments ahead of
the network drive assignments. I also cleared the previous card reader
assignments between testing the two devices to make sure there was no
carry over between the two. The only way I have been able to connect
these card readers without high-jacking the network drive assignments is
after the reboot is complete.

Run COMPMGMT.MSC. You want StorageDisk Management.

In the lower right pane, each "drive" is listed. Right click on the disk
label and one option will be to change letter.

But I'm curious... What drives are assigned Q and R before you restart and
those get reassigned to the USB drives?
