Yes, I had a period recently when I probably would have started again, were
it not for wanting never again to have that particularly monkey on my back.
I think it was when the wintertime night sky had it's crystalline,
translucent, lucid, liquid clarity (pick your own superlatives!) just before
christmas, which has always stirred an almost religious ecstasy in me and
for most of my life I'd have been smoking at the time. It is not quite the
same now due to distraction, partly perhaps because nicotine aids
concentration, and relaxation (of a craving momentarily sated) - but partly
also because so many times it wasn't just nicotine and the experience was
that much more intense. Very powerful conditioning.

Also I learnt long ago that you start again for the single, first cigarette,
but end up having thousands of the cluckers, almost none of which are
actually pleasurable. And you stink like a stale ashtray, of course!

Well done Figgs. And Joan. And me. And anyone else who has quit and stayed
quit.

I think he is referring back to a post wherein I said how bloody cold it
was here in Toronto....minus 29C today with the windchill. So Yonge Street
in July would be the opposite.

Hey, KD Lang is good. And I quit smoking 3 years ago on Feb. 8th. I
think. Could be 4, but doubt it. Wish I could shed the pounds as well.
Think I gained about 15 or so (just over a stone). I did have a couple of
days recently where I kinda wanted one, but what with all of my never
ending medical problems, it was just me stressing out.

Okay Mrs Figgs. Still don't get it, though.

Coincidentally I've got KD Lang playing at the mo.

Now that I'm back in Windows 7.

Last time I was in Windows 7, I sent Joan a screenshot - and Joni
Mitchell was playing.

How's the not smoking going? Still on the wagon? I mention this because
I'm in the process of shedding the pounds I've put on since quitting.
Otherwise I'd have made the old gag about drinking Canada dry. Only then
I'd be rotund enough to orbit Mars without a spacesuit.

Anyway, seems like Canada Day, here!

I think he got England and Toronto mixed up here.

The main street in Toronto is "Yonge Street" and I assume that is what
he is referring to.
