Default DVD Player

I have installed a third-party DVD player.

Windows 98 does not include a functional DVD player. I believe there's an
icon but it won't work unless a third-party DVD decoder is installed, which
means a program that will play DVDs. So to make the Windows DVD player
work, you need to install a complete DVD player anyway. Yep, catch-22 but
there it is. ;-)

I have Windows 98 and somehow lost my DVD player. I have Windows 98 but am
unable to find it on my CD. Also, I got an error message that says since I
have a newer version (updates) than the CD the CD has been disabled.

When I try to play a DVD it says, "This file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in My
Computer by clicking View and then clicking Folder Options." I did this
associating it with "Micro DVD Player" which I downloaded off of the
internet
but it will not associate at all with any program I use.

Could you tell me how to download Windows DVD Player and tell me how to
make
it work or what other free program I can use that works with Windows 98
and
how to make the association work? I know how to do associations under
Folder
Options but it just isn't working.

Thank you so much. I have tried everything I can think of.
