Default MCI sound driver - PS

Heather when you said to "Empty your temp & TIF folder first.....then
scandisk and defrag..... *Temp* files you are referring to
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP , but not the file folder itself ... correct?

Correct....the ones ending ususally in *.tmp. There will be others with
different extensions, so moving them out to a new folder would be advisable
until you see if they are needed (they never are, grin).

Super to hear that you are progressing so well. But I still think you
should dump Adaptec 4 and get Roxio 5 or 6.

Hi Heather & Mart
Well I don't know how this happened but after doing six transfers of
approx
90 mp3 files, each having about 60 *usable copies* ....... all of a sudden
it
started doing successful CD creations with NO errors. I gradually worked
up
to 150 mp3 files per transfer after getting no errors.

The only thing different I done: used the new PC to erase the CD-RW (old
PC
was burning so I was trying to save time). BTW - the new PC's CD-RW Erase
referenced Roxio in the process popup window. My computer terms are
pathetic
so I hope you get the jest of what I'm saying.

Thankyou for the link to the upgrade site and the other tips. Tomorrow
I'll
delete the mp3 files from the old PC - do a clean, scan and defrag then
see
about uninstall/restall/updates if the adaptec program goes haywire
again -
time will tell. I'll also into your other suggestions, so I'm alittle
prepared.

I realize that the mp3 files take alot of space so our son can now move,
copy, burn rip or delete from the new PC. Thus giving me working space on
the old PC for the programs (which I like to use) that are not XP
friendly.
I know its crazy to have two PCs set up ! *Hard to teach an old dog new
tricks* scenerio, but I'll get there eventually.

Heather when you said to "Empty your temp & TIF folder first.....then
scandisk and defrag..... *Temp* files you are referring to
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP ,
but not the file folder itself ... correct?

I'll post back with tomorrows results.

BTW - I am from Saskatchewan.

Hi Connie....

Mart is over the pond and I am in Canada, so we operate at different
times,

About the only other thing I could suggest is the uninstall and reinstall
of
Adaptec. Plus go to the Roxio website and make sure you have the
updates...I believe there was just one that made it become version 4.05.
I
will find the spot, coz it is confusing on that website.

OK....found it, but that is one old program!! I would really suggest you
hit eBay and get at least Roxio 5 or 6. Anything higher will NOT work on
WinME, btw.

There are updates on that page. Check your program under Help/About and
see
what your version is.
