Before you do that you might want to think about how the PC is going to be
used. For example if the PC running Win Me is _never_ going to connect to
the internet it doesn't necessarily need any of the many security updates
nor does it necessarily need to update Internet Explorer (the most recent
version supported on Win Me is IE6 SP1). One of the few essential updates
is the 290700 patch for system restore (see Mart's earlier post) without
which system restore cannot create usable checkpoints. This particular
patch can be downloaded using the link in the associated KB article
KB290700 "Checkpoints that you create after September 8, 2001 do not
restore your computer" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290700).
