Default Windows 98 client unable to browse network printers

I assume that this is not a problem with other Win98 computers on the
network. First double-check that Printer Sharing is installed in Network
properties. Also, check for Autologon in the registry.

"Unable to Browse the Network" Clicking Network Neighborhood

If this doesn't help, then I'd suggest removing all network components, then
shut down. When you have restarted the computer, add them back in.

If still no joy, try clean booting (Msconfig, remove check from Startup
items) to see if something loading at Startup is causing the problem.

Greetings,
my problem is as stated: a Windows 98 client is not able to
browse network printers (tried with a NT 4 PDC and several
other Windows 2000 workstations). Using "Add Printer Wizard"
and typing the \\pdc\\printername UNC path explicitly I can
trigger Point and Print driver download, but not view what
printers are available. Using "net view" shows no shared
resources of type "Print", either.

The Windows 98 is using Client for Microsoft Networks and logs
on to the Windows NT domain on the PDC. It can browse file
shares just fine.

Thank you in advance,
