Default Windows Hotmail / Live does not load

a back door via http;//my.msn.com worked up to today to get to my account on
my lovely 8 year old laptop running 98 sE but I seem to be completely up the
creek now. Having been advised that I need to upgrade my browserI carried on
anyway (in spite of the warning that it might not work properly). Guess what?
It doesn't work properly. I can see the headers of the emails but can't open
a single one.

I have some old Windows 98 Second Edition PCs that cannot
access hotmail through WIndows Live. The IE status bar
says errors on the page and the screen stays blank.

This is actually for my parents. They have an older gateway running 98 and
dial-up (I nod my head every time I visit). They get to the inbox. When
they click a message hotmail acts like it wants to display but nothing
happens.

My parents commented that the change happened only about 2 to 3 weeks ago.

Using an older version of IE like me? (5.50.4807.2300)
Doesn't work here, either.
I installed Firefox 1.5.0.12 and Opera 9.52, and they both work just fine.
I assume MS "fixed" the Hotmail pages to try to force everyone to "upgrade".
