Sure did.
Wondering if I should replace the CMOS battery or just put in shop?

Did you try disabling PM altogether?

Under PM setup I have the following selections:

PM = enable or disabled
Power Switch Type = Suspend on/off
LID Switch Type = Screenoff / suspend
Suspend mode = POS(S1) / Disable / STD(S4)
Standby time out = Dis / 1 minute- 15 minutes
Suspend Time out = Dis / 1min - 30 min
HD time out = dis / 1 - 15 minutes
Fan Mode = performance / Silent
RTC Alarm = enabled / disabled
RTC = Alarm date
RTC = Hour
RTC = Minute
RTC = Second

That's it under PM Setup.

I assume that when you choose Boot when asked at the end, nothing
happens?

CMOS battery low would explain the error message IF that Save to File or
whatever setting existed. There's only one Power Management setting? It
looks like it's enabled. It doesn't have any kind of sub-menu with a
bunch of other PM-related settings? Did you try disabling PM?

Sorry for the delays, work.

Not sure exactly what make this thing is.No markings on case.
The only info is on a plate on bottom of system and it's stated
"Personal Computer Model No. N340S8".
Another problem is that this was donated and they isn't any disks,
etc. that came with it.

What is the make/model of the machine?

Followed your instructions but still no go.

I went into BIOS and set floopy to be "1st Boot Device", inserted
floppy and restarted system.
After intitial startup, goes straight to error msg.

You run BOOTITNG.EXE on the system you used to download it, and it
make's its own bootable floppy (or CD.) You then put that floppy in
the problem machine and boot to it. Once it finishes loading, the
first dialogue you get will be to install BootIt NG (BING) and
that's where you Cancel the installation.

Sorry for the less than clear instructions.

Here's what I've got.
D/L and copied to a floppy BootItng.exe. (had to d/l on another
system)
Made a bootable floppy when I installed Win98se.
Problem is, Iv'e set BIOS to read floppy 1st, Cd 2nd and then HD
but this system isn't following instructions.
When the system starts, I can't hear either disk running and then
I get error msg.

I'm confused, when you say to make a bootable floopy unless you're
taking about something other than the one I create with win98se.
Also, run Bootitng.exe--- how when the system locks up even
though I have the bootable floopy in the drive.

Sorry, that download from BootIt NG is a ZIP file. Unzip that to
a new folder and then run BOOTITNG.EXE file in that folder.

My suggestion is to get a copy of BootIt NG from
www.bootitng.com. No need to pay, just download the EXE, make a
bootable floppy or CD installer, reboot to the floppy or CD and
then CANCEL THE INSTALLATION! That will drop you into
Maintenance Mode where you can choose Partition Work. See what's
listed there in the middle panel. More than just the one
partition where you installed Win98? If so, please list them for
us here, including name, size, type.

What's the make/model of the machine?

Followed link.
Problem is there is no such option.
Nothing looks close to an auto Save-to-file option.

Received a donated laptop for our local historical society.
Reformatted HD, everything worked/loaded, but when I restart
system it locks up, no keyboard, nothing with the following
msg.
"Invalid hibernation partition/file run hd-----"
I can get into BIOS, using Del key, but that's it.

I've tried to use the startup floppy that was created during
Win install but no go.
I've put in the win98se cd and still nothing.

Is this a win98se problem or did I do something?
