sorry, Noel. Renaming "logo,sys" did not work. That was
the only file you mentioned that I saw in C:\. This
picture comes on right before the desktop loads. Any more
ideas?

Look in the c:\ directory for the files
logo.sys
logos.sys
logow.sys
these three are the files that appear as screens at start
and shutdown.
Normally, they are included in one of the system files,
but if the file is
present, it takes precedence, and is shown instead the
system file copy.
rename any of the above found to (name).OLD, and the
relevant screen will
revert to the standard one.
