Default installation error

Yeah thanks, I finally figured out part of the problem which is that but I'm
still having problems getting it installed. I pulled the 533 and put in
ddr400 because my mobo can use either but while it is getting further into
the install it's freezing up when it gets to the hardware and plug and play
configuration. If you got any thoughts on that one I'd love to hear them.
Thanks again for the help

Too much ram--cut back to 1 gb and then see if the following helps.

Here's some info on ram you might find helpful:

I am attempting to build a win 98 computer to run all of my old games which
will not work under win xp compatibility mode. everything was going ok and
then i got an error message. it shut down and when i restarted it, it said
"quit one or more memory-resident programs or remove unnecessary utilities
from your config.sys and autoexec.bat files and restart your computer".

i am using a mobo that i had been using with winxp. the mobo is lga775,
2gigs of ddr2-533 ram, 40 gig sata 2 hdd which was partitioned into a 30
gig
and 8 gig partitions, and an nvidia 7800gs agp video card. Any help would
be
greatly appreciated.
