In the future, if you just need to use BING for partition work you
do not need to install it on the hard drive, which is apparently
what you did.

Simply boot with the BING floppy, when prompted to Install, click
Cancel, and enter Maintenance Mode.

Thanks, Glen

Initially, Bing wanted to install to the hard drive, should have not
done that. The link you gave me was good, lots of Bing data.

It states that Uninstall is only available if Bing is installed on
the hard drive, which it had done. But Utilities/Uninstall is greyed
out. I dunno. I looked through the data, don't find that combination.

If I remove the Bing floppy, reboot, the screen asks for it, even
though it installed to the hard drive. I can't bootup w/o the Bing
floppy.

Please refer to my reply to PCR for the DOS part.

tion-is-Greyed-Out.html

"Uninstall Option is Greyed Out

"If you wish to uninstall BootIt NG, but the Uninstall... option under
the Utilities menu in BootIt NG is greyed out, you have two options,
each of which will make the Uninstall... option available within
BootIt NG: Boot into the copy of BootIt NG installed on the hard
drive.

That is what I did first, where Uninstall is greyed out.

"If you installed BootIt NG from a diskette, you can boot from that
same diskette, and choose the Access BootIt NG Partition option on the
floppy boot menu."

I see that menu, but all is greyed out except Upgrade BootIt.

From what it shows, getting the above menu suggests installed from a
floppy. But the hard drive inaccessible now is due to Bing being
installed on the hard drive. ??.

If you still have problems, post in the BootIt NG newsgroups or web
forum: http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/support.html

I found on those links an inactive support forum, public.apps.bootitng,
last posts in July 2005, but my newsgroup server shows no public*
newsgroups.

In Uninstall in the manual, I found this:
---------
If your system boots the incorrect partition or won’t boot at all, then
you can use FDISK to set the correct partition active or you can use the
BootIt NG floppy disk to set the correct partition active ....snip
------------

The C partition is presently set Active.

Fdisk does not now see C. Having looked at either hard drive install or
floppy install, each Uninstall option seems to lead to a dead end, with
greyed out options.

Is there some way in DOS, starting with a boot floppy, to remove Bing and
recover the C drive?

Thanks
