FIFO is automatic - and you say that you've 'flushed' the archive already,
so there shouldn't be anything old remaining.
To check this:-
Open Windows Explorer
Go to Tools | Folder Options
Click on the View tab
Ensure that the settings a re
1) Enable viewing of Hidden files/Folders
2) Enable viewing of System Files/Folders
Click OK to get back to Explorer
Now look in the C: drive root directory for the _Restore folder (note the
Underscore!)
right-click on the icon, and select Properties.
How many files/folders are there recorded? - How much disk space is used??
There should be 5 folders, and around 26 files - but there could be hundreds
of files if you've mad any changes to the system since 'flushing' the
archive. space used could be anywhere from 10MB to around 160MB with your
current settings depending on how many System Restore points have been
created, and what you've done with the system since flushing the archive.
FYI, the correct way to flush the archive is as follows
To Reset System Restore -
System | Performance | File System | Troubleshooting and check
"Disable System Restore",
Apply and IMMEDIATELY reboot.
This will flush you restore folder and erase all checkpoints, then,
System | Performance | File System | Troubleshooting and uncheck
"Disable System Restore",
Apply and again IMMEDIATELY reboot.
This should now automatically create a new checkpoint immediately following
the restart.
Finally adjust the space allocated to the restore folder,
System | Performance | File System | Hard Disk and adjust the restore slider
to your preferred setting.
Most people find that a setting of 200-300MB is sufficient to hold 10-15
days worth of restore points, unless you are doing a lot of
installs/uninstalls, or installing large applications (such as Office).
