Default file download box, downloads in binary code

The 'tag team' method worked well this time. ;-)

Most things I can download with no problem. But
this "file download" box appears just for certain
documments either on a web page or maybe an email
attachment. It says "you have chosen to download a file
from this location." Then it gives the name of the file.
Example: "calander.pdf from

www.beatricepublicschools.org"
Then it asks "what would you like to do with this file?"
And then you check either "Open this file from its
location" or "save this file to disc"
It has "OK, "Cancel," and "More info" buttons at the
bottom. And anything I save originating from this box
comes back to me in binary code. Any ideas? Any help
appreciated. Bob K.

So when you open it you see something like:

1010010100101001001111001001100010010110100101100 10100101

?

Or is it more like:

idjfhusydgvbklxfgnkuxygflxkcjnoxuhgfastfsukonbjiu yszzx548

?

What specific file types: ZIP, RAR, SIT ?

Is it just PDF ? If it is just this file type, you need
Adobe Acrobat Reader either available from
http://www.adobe.com or many software CDs/installation
programs include an instalation file with a name like:
ar505enu.exe, which stands for (I suppose) " Acrobat

Reader
version 5.05 ENglish User". Do a search on your comp for:

AR*.exe

A goo d place to search would be in the "Program Files"
directory.
