You can try it with the last user created and if something goes amiss boot to
Safe
Mode to undo the hack in the reg.


(I created two users, and while creating the second (last) user profile, I
was presented with the message that the user name already existed, but it
still created the user profile for me. So I'm not sure if that would be
deemed as the FIRST profile created or the LAST.)

If you wanted you could just create another new one and do the hack once
rebooted
back into it.


And lastly, will the desktop wallpaper at the logon screen reflect the
desktop wallpaper of the last (default) user? Because I just want a blue
background for the logon...no wallpaper. Thanks again for your help!

Shouldn't matter because you can set it to what you want in Display Properties
Background tab. Any other users created before the hack can set their preferences
to
whatever they want.

There's a registry hack that will force a un/pw and if either is wrong or
cancel
is
selected, windows will/should partially load and then return to the logon
screen.
There are two fallbacks involved however:

1) Booting to Safe Mode allows the hack to be removed. Good if you need to
remove
it, which you will if you create any new users.

2) Any new user created after the hack will inherit the NoLogon value and
reboot
to
the logon screen even w/correct un/pw. The way around it is to remove the hack
first, create the new user and then reinsert it from the new users account.
Always
create the key after rebooting into a newly created user account, the new
account
becomes the Default account.

If you decide to continue on with the proceedure, you do it of your own will
and
assume all responsibility if something should go wrong. Please see all under
NOTE
(below the hack info) for info on backing up and restoring the registry.

In the newly (last) created account run regedit to open the registry.
Expand to:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Run
Right click in the Right Pane, click New String Value
Name it: NoLogon (exactly as shown)
Give it the value: RUNDLL32 shell32,SHExitWindowsEx 0 (exactly as shown)
Close out of the registry, logoff and when you log back in you should be
presented
with the logon screen.

NOTE:
Always backup the registry or any key before making any changes so that you
may
import the keys back in should anything go wrong. Haphazardly removing keys in
the
registry is very dangerous and can render your system useless. Be 100% sure of
what
you are doing and what you remove can be safely done.

You can Backup the registry key/s while in regedit: Click on Registry on the
menu
bar while in the registry, click on “Export Registry File.”. Choose
a
location, I
recommend saving it to the desktop and it makes it easy to find. Place a check
next
to “Selected Branch” and give the file a memorable name, select
save, make
your
changes and close out. If you have no problems after say 2 weeks, you can
delete
the
exported files.
If you have problems, double click the reg file on the desktop to import/merge
it
back into the registry.

Do Not back up the entire registry in the registry editor. Importing it back
while
in windows can be harmful to the machine. A registry backup is created each new
calendar day a machine is booted.
If you wish to perform a new backup of the registry after the machine has been
booted, got to Start Run, type in: scanregw and hit enter. You will be
prompted
that a registry has already been backed up for the day and do you wish to
create a
new one, click yes.
