Had a problem with the printer being reported that it was
offline. Replaceing the cable would solve it for a little
while. Then it would do it again within a couple of months.
After 4 or 5 new cables within 18 months got to checking
it deeper. The LPT port had a bad solder joint at the MB.
Replaceing the cable would seat the connection for a
while. I guess. Now I have a life time supply of printer
cables.

If you delete the printer it will ask you if you want

to delete the
associated files ....

also you may want to boot into safe mode and delete all

the LPT ports ,
then
reboot to let windows redetect...

then try installing the printer again
