Symptom:

Defragmentation hangs between 0 and 1 % percent since app. 14 hours.

System: Windows 98 Second Edition

Describtion: Running the defragmentation with defrag startet from the
graphical user interface hangs between 0 and 1 % since app. 14 hours. The
file system was checked with scandisk from the prompt without surface
analyses and scandisk showed no errors. The screen saver and anti-virus is
disabled.

Questions: Should a surface analyses be made? Should we run defragmentation
from the prompt? What causes the error? Any more questions?
