Sorry about the plethora of messages - I'll calm down soon!

During the recent upgrade of my old laptop to 98SE I think I remember
seeing a message relating to audio devices somewhere along the line, but
I can't remember the details.

After the installation, "PCI multimedia audio device" was listed as
non-functional in the Device Manager, and I couldn't play audio CDs.

I tried to rectify the situation via the Properties Update Driver
route, but I and/or the system couldn't find one.

I then had a look at the driver CD that came with the laptop, and it
does indeed contain an audio section (Crystal CS4280 to be precise),
complete with a Setup file, which I executed.

However, something has gone wrong in the sense that "PCI multimedia
audio device" is no longer listed as non-functional in the Device
Manager, *but* every time I reboot the Found New Hardware Wizard comes
up, looking for "PCI multimedia audio device" drivers!

There are thousands of Google hits for "PCI multimedia audio device" and
more then 100 for "crystal audio setup", but I can't quite make sense of it.

Any suggestions?
