Really, it won't matter how many ISPs are doing this - what does matter is
if this particular ISP is actually doing it. :-) That said, I can't say
I've heard of this becoming a popular policy.

Yes, that information is being sent over. There is another person who will
make the ISP contact, but I seem to be the person who tracks down
information so they will know what is going on first - they aren't
familiar
with troubleshooting. As you noticed, my question referred to whether this
might be a common occurrence among Windows 98 users since loss of MS
support. I'm checking on the support pages for that ISP to see if there
is
anything like an announcement. Doesn't look like it, and they still have
instructions up for Windows 95 and 98 for new dial-up accounts.
