Default 160gb HDD getting repeated corrupted FAT

Hi everyone,

I'd like to find out from those win98se users who are using HDDs of
over 120gb capacity. I have a Seagate Barracuda 160gb HDD which I've
been using fairly happily until the last few weeks when FAT corruption
occurs a bit too frequently for my liking. Firstly I've tried the
following to prepare my 160gb HDD:-

I've heard reports that up to 190 gig drives work fine but not with
standard 98 disk tools like defrag and scandisk they are reported to be
troublesome. Norton's Speed disk reportedly works fine but only if
your BIOS can handle 48-bit LBA, Ingeborg posted a link for this
problem.

I noticed that you are using the updated fdisk, did you consider that
it might be worth also updating your io.sys?

After checking out your 48-bit LBA BIOS situation, I would blame NSW
for the problem.
