Hi,

I have 2 PC's. 1 with XP with an External USB HD. The 2nd PC has Win
ME. Is there such a thing as an External USB HD that will work with Win
ME?

Where, when and how can I purchase it and install it?

Almost all of them do. Two issues though: you have to use the FAT32
filing system for WinME to recognise the disk. WinME will almost
certainly require a driver to be loaded. This can usually be obtained
from the drive manufacturer's website, but look out for a CD in the
drive packaging.

Windows ME has built-in drivers for these drives, there would only be a
need for drivers if the drive was using non-native or proprietary
drivers.

I bow to your superior knowledge. I knew Windows 98 required drivers and
assumed WinME would as well.

MS provided updates specifically for 98 for USB. Some USB updates were only
specific to 98SE. With those updates installed on 98SE, it appears that it
was equivalent to ME regarding USB. Same with firewire in 98SE.
