Default Adding Microsoft Word & Works 2002 to Windows 98

Chances are the version of XP (or W2K--I am not clear on which) will not
work with your laptop since operating systems for laptops are highly
customized. I'd leave well enough alone

I got a secondhand laptop that has a Windows 98 operating system. I tried
putting on my Windows 2002 Word & Works and it worked. There are a few
quirks but I've solved them. Actually, I was afraid of removing the
operating system. I have the Windows 2002 operating system CD but I've
never installed an operating system. My question is: if everything is
alright, can I add the 2002 to the 98 operating system? Or should I
start
all over, remove the 98 operating system and put in the Windows XP
operating
system for the programs that I'm used to on my regular computer?
