Default internet gateway not responding message

Hi,

I'm using a D-Link DI-524 router which has a wired connection to my desktop
running WinME and wirelessly to my 2 laptops running WinXP. Very often when
I try to shutdown my desktop, I get a message that says "internet gateway
not responding" and I have to click a response to finish the shutdown.

I used to have a icon that would appear and disappear randomly in my
taskbar, that would sometimes say that the internet connection was either
"configured" or "unconfigured", but it didn't affect performance. I
eventually right-clicked on it and chose "Remove" and I hasn't re-appeared
since, but the occasional shut-down problems remain.

Any idea how I can fully remove this as I assume it is unnecessary when
using a router.

Thanks,

Steve

Go to Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Windows Setup
Communications, and un-install "Universal Plug and Play".
