Default Print-outs are dark

Unlikely, unless you are not using the correct win98 driver for your
printer. But answers to my previous questions might shed more light (or
darkness g) on things particularly if you are not using the original
printer manufacturers ink. Cheap ink *may* result in unexpected results.

Why do ask if the printer's driver could cause the problem? Sounds like you
know more than you are telling us.

Could the printer's driver affect the lightness/darkness of a print-out?

When I look at a JPEG image on the screen, it looks just fine. Bit when
I
print it, the image is too dark. I have tryed other JPEG images but the
result is the same. Any help is appreciated.

Suddenly happened or always been darker? Only JPEG's, what about .BMP's?
What about the printer's Test Page (the coloured Windows logo on the top
corner)?

Assuming not an *.icm issue then try printing blocks of the three primary
printing colours (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) using Paint and see if any
one
colour prints incorrectly. Or Google for Nokia's Monitor Test and "Print
Screen" the main screen.

I guess that you are using the OEM's ink for your printer and not cheaper
substitutes.
