I am trying to plug my venturer mp3 player with the usb
cord into my comp running on windows 98 and my external
drive isn't appearing in my control panel.

I even seemed to have installed drivers onto my comp from
the windows 98 cd and an external drive still does not

appear.

Do I need a different driver? My mp3 player did not come
with any software and cannot find any venturer drivers at
totally drivers.com.

I had no problem plugging it in with Windows Me.

What's the catch with windows 98?

Windows 98(SE) needs drivers made by the manufacturer,
otherwise you can't access USB devices that store data
such as in your case your MP3 player.

It's beyond me why Microsoft doesn't just port all the
drivers from Me to 98 and make a upgrade available. I
guess they want us to upgrade to Me, or 2k, or xp.
