Default Win98 PCMICA NIC for NEC Ready 440T?

Somebody just gave me an OLD NEC Ready 440T laptop to use for some
light word processing. The trouble is that it doesn't have a NIC card.
Given the age of it, finding a PCMCIA Ethernet card, either wired or
wireless that has compatible drivers for Windows 98 First Edition is
difficult. Could somebody please give me some suggestions on where and
what to get for both wired and wireless Ethernet? I don't have a
wireless connection at home, but I might need it elsewhere for
internet access.

OPPS missed that you indicated 98FE, that MAY be a problem. Before you
buy something, check over on driverguide, driverzone, or similar, to see
if there is a driver available for FE if whatever you think to buy has
none.

You're looking for something like this [not saying this is what you need]:

Or maybe searching NEC:

Or Google:

For wired, fast ethernet is sufficient, since I only have a fast
Ethernet switch. Heck, I've only got one device at home that supports
gigabit Ethernet.

Hmm, no NIC connection on the back,, okay, how about USB?

USB network adapters are relatively cheap and come as 10/100 at least,
and of course wireless if that's were your headed.

Not an endorsement, nor have I used these, but:

look at the card type available and search elsewhere if necessary...
