I would think that write-behind caching could result in file system
problems if the system crashes before data are written to the drive.


- and what are the realistic chances of that happening, when the cache is
emptied/written after 5 seconds in Win98? the chance is greater that you'll
see a system slowdown without the cache than you'll lose more data (than you
would otherwise have lost).
The only sites that I've seen recommending this dubious tweak are those
dealing with music manipulation - and I have little confidence in their
ability to improve over the default.
