That's not actually true. If the user has a UPnP enabled router and also
enabled UPnP in their operating systems then the router will show in the
notification area/systray as "Internet Gateway" and provide connection
status and throughput. To echo your words, "I know" but not because I
have a friend but because I have just such an icon in the notification
area as I'm typing. g


Really? It showed up shortly after I set up my router for UPnP, but then it
vanished, never to return, on my Windows ME computer. The same thing for my
friend with a router and Windows XP. In both cases, after initially
clicking on the icon in the taskbar, it closed, after presenting a popup
that it would be moved to the network properties folder on the Desktop.
